The tainted house.
It is (by far) the scariest house on the street for
fellow home owners.
It seems there is at least one in every neighborhood.
I'm not talking about the house that is tainted with Chinese drywall or oozing with black mold. Not even a reference to it being haunted by spirits and strange sitings...other than its current inhabitants.
I am talking about that one home in the neighborhood that:
- is sold every few years
- has regular police visits
- always has inhabitants that go nuts in some fashion
- has never had the good fortune in perfoming the job for which it was intended-love/home
AT first take, this is not obvious for the newest members of the neighborhood. But, for the established residents, it is. Especially, for those that live on the very same street as the tainted house. Every time the real estate 'for sale' sign goes up, so does an eyebrow.
Who will be behind door #3 when it sells this time?
Will it be, the woman with out-of-control, running, screaming, rule breaking kids? Kids that had influence on your fine little pedigrees? At first, you mistakenly invited them in to join yours during a Kool-Aid moment...ahh, you could never take that moment back, now, could you? There they were, like stray cats you gave milk to...back on your front porch stoop every day. A couple years passed. It was a long lesson...and then, one day, back on the market it went...Next.
Or, will they be like the old m
an that appeared to be a shut in? Except for the daily stroll out for his paper, no one ever saw him. No blinds tilted open...shades drawn tight. Silence and suspicion. Was that guy being hidden by the fed's, a recluse or a perv? Each day you drove by the house and wondered (and you still wonder)...then the for sale sign went up again. Next.
How about the three hot women that moved in, and have a constant flow of cars and men coming in and out, at all hours of the night? A little loud, a little distractng. That doesn't really subscribe to the residential suburbia that you had in mind for your neighborhood, now does it? Your teenage boys like it, so does your husband...and you, not so much.
Ahhh....and, there's the sign again. Next.
