For the most part, I don't pay too much attention to what NAR is doing....however, this caught my eye.
They are building a National database of covering more than 147 MILLION property parcels...it will be referenced as Realtors Property Resource (TM) is RPRTM-in lieu of my last post, you have to love the new acronym:)
This is planned to launch in the second quarter of 2010....and be for NAR members only-not a public site.
It all sounds well and good, except, history seems to show that eventually all the information we have pain-stakenly gathered, with money and know how (your local MLS fees and technology updates) becomes very public knowledge in a very short period of time...Are we shooting ourselves (and our clients) in the foot? If it eventually does go public, how much information does the public want out there?
Thoughts to ponder.
