Huntersville is TOO Cool! Just Ask Oprah! Ho!Ho! Ho!

The lighting of the tree will never be the same in  Huntersville NC.

This year,  Huntersville residents  escorted the Holiday Shopping Season in by lighting the tree and welcoming Santa Claus in with a unified dancing (2,000 of them!) flash mob at Birkdale Village shopping center.

Holiday Spirit has never seen the likes of this!

Watch the video here. This is a real treat~or I wouldn't have posted it!

The idea came about due to a recent Oprah show on how communities can come together through flash mobs. Sounds scary-but this is true spirit.

This is crazy fun what the residents of Huntersville have joined in to do here...maybe you can get your town to do this next year!

Orchestrating the force of social media, the event gathered its participants via Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube.

The original turn out goal, was 500 people. AS noted earlier the crowd performance came in at an estimated 2,000 people. All rehearsed ahead of time and  performed in unison to the Black Eyed Peas song, “I Gotta Feeling.”

This was the biggest flash mob to ever take place in North Carolina.  The routine was created by choreographer Ian Burke and posted on various social media sites so participants could learn the dance prior to the event.
